FC Dallas Starts Unique Payment Plan For Season-Ticket Holders Based On Player Sales

FC Dallas President Dan Hunt yesterday "notified the club's season ticket holders via email they would be receiving a check in the mail," representing the "first of the club's new plan to give back to fans each time the team profits from the sale of a player," according to Peter Welpton of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Sources said that the checks "will be $5.42 each." This is "exactly the type of brand marketing" the club "so desperately needs." Basically when they "sell a player, the club only gets to keep a percentage (75% for homegrowns, 66% for others) and MLS the remaining amount." FC Dallas will "take 1% of the amount due to them and split it up amongst the season ticket holder base at that time." Welpton notes there are other clubs which are "supporter owned, and those fans with ownership stakes receive a dividend payment" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 3/9).
