On Thursday, Twitter announced it would be live streaming 1,500 hours of eSports content globally across more than 15 events in 2017.

In a partnership with leading eSports companies ESL and DreamHack, Twitter will stream content around the ESL One, Intel Extreme Masters and DreamHack eSports tournaments, starting on March 4 at the Intel Extreme Masters Katowice. Additionally, ESL will produce a weekly 30-minute highlight show for Twitter and other original content for the social platform.

DreamHack Austin in April will be the first live streamed event from the eSports tournament organizer, with all DreamHack events being shown on Twitter this year.

“Esports is growing at a rapid pace and we see this collaboration as a way to tap into the engaged audience of gamers that are already using Twitter as a primary source of content,” said Anthony Noto, COO at Twitter said in a statement. “By partnering with the leading esports companies like ESL and DreamHack, we look forward to bringing the best of esports live video and conversation together on Twitter.”

Added Johannes Schiefer, Vice President Social Media and Editorial at ESL in a statement: “Esports fans are endemic to digital and this partnership with Twitter expands ESL’s reach for all of our major tournaments for fans around the globe. Intel Extreme Masters Katowice is our most anticipated live event, and we are excited to bring premier content from this tournament and beyond to more fans in a premium experience.”

Twitters first foray into live streaming eSports content was last summer at Turners ELEAGUE as it live streamed the semifinals and finals matchup from Atlanta.
