Boston College AD Brad Bates Resigns To Lead Collegiate Sports Associates' Consulting Unit

Boston College AD Brad Bates today resigned with plans to "leave at the end of the school year to join Collegiate Sports Associates," according to a source cited by Benbow & Pepin of the BOSTON GLOBE. Bates is in his "fifth year leading the school’s sports programs." He will be a VP at CSA, an executive search and consulting firm based in Chapel Hill, N.C. He will "lead the firm's consulting division." Bates was named AD in October '12, replacing Gene DeFilippo, and "hired both football coach Steve Addazio and men’s basketball coach Jim Christian." Bates also "played a role" in BC’s plan to add $200M worth of "new athletics facilities." BC said that it would "conduct a national search for a replacement with the assistance of an executive search firm" (BOSTONGLOBE.com, 2/20).
