Texas Tech Spring Game To Be First College Event At Cowboys' Ford Center At The Star

Texas Tech on March 25 "will play a spring football game" at the Ford Center at The Star, becoming the "first college program to have an event" at the Cowboys new facility in Frisco, according to Don Williams of the LUBBOCK AVALANCHE-JOURNAL. Texas Tech AD Kirby Hocutt said, "We cannot spend enough time here. This is a home away from home for Texas Tech university, its students, alumni and donors." Hocutt noted the game at the 12,000-seat indoor stadium will be televised on FS Southwest. Tech also will "have a spring scrimmage" on April 8 at its Jones AT&T Stadium. School officials have said that the April 8 scrimmage "will include a post-game autograph session." Admission to the game in Frisco is $10 for ages 19 and up and "free to students 18 and under." Texas Tech Senior Associate AD/External Operations & Strategic Communications Robert Giovannetti said that the day in Frisco "will be about more than football." Giovannetti: "We plan on making that a big Texas Tech day outside. They’ve got FieldTurf outside the facility, and we plan on having admissions and recruiting and all those set up out there." Hocutt said that activities "could start" as early as 11:00am local time (LUBBOCK AVALANCHE-JOURNAL, 2/10).
