Patriots Super Bowl Merchandise Selling At Better Rate Than After Championship In '15

Multiple championships in quick succession do not normally produce strong licensed-product sales, but the early retail results for Patriots championship merchandise sales have been surprisingly positive. Data from Fanatics shows that since the end of Super Bowl LI, Patriots merch has been selling at a higher rate than after the team's Super Bowl XLIX championship in '15 by more than 130%. In the first two hours after Super Bowl LI, the Patriots sold as much team gear as they did in the 24 hours following their '15 title. NFL Senior VP/Licensing & Consumer Products Chris Halpin said, "Demand is significantly stronger than two years ago when the Patriots won and very strong compared to other teams in recent years, so it’s been a nice boost." Locker room championship T-shirts from Fanatics and champion caps from New Era were among the top sellers. A variety of five-time champion apparel products are hitting retail now, with hard goods to follow.
