MLB Facility Notes: County Delays Taking Action On D-Backs' Chase Field Lawsuit

In Phoenix, Rebekah Sanders reports the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors "delayed action and canceled a public meeting" scheduled for Friday to discuss the D-backs' Chase Field lawsuit, which claims the venue would be "unsafe if the county doesn't fund" millions in repairs. County Dir of Communications Fields Moseley said that the board "needed more time to consider its options" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 2/1).

SOUVENIR SALE: In Chicago, Tim Bannon noted the Cubs are selling '15 and '16 Wrigley Field seats "removed from the ballpark during the ongoing renovations." Seats will be "available as two-seat sets and will be authenticated" with MLB’s seal of authenticity. The seats were "removed from several sections including the terrace reserved, terrace box and field box, and feature two ballpark riser-mounted seats attached to L-shaped metal brackets." The seats removed in the '15 offseason cost $799, and a smaller quantity of seat sets removed in the '16 offseason cost $899 (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 1/31).

GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR: In Philadelphia, Matt Gelb notes after the Phillies partnered with the Twins last year to purchase 45 acres of land in the Dominican Republic, they "constructed a complex with which they hope to nurture young talent." The complex opened in January, and Phillies President Andy MacPhail said, "It exceeds my expectations. And my expectations were pretty high." He added, "I am a huge proponent, as is our ownership, of taking this opportunity to make significant investments everywhere up and down the organization" (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 2/1).
