NHL's All-Star Game Overnight Rating Sees Increase With Move To Broadcast TV

NBC yesterday drew a 1.6 overnight rating for the NHL All-Star Game, which aired on broadcast TV for the first time since '04. The game last year drew a 1.2 overnight on NBCSN, while the '15 iteration earned a 0.9 rating on the cable net. Yesterday's game peaked at a 1.9 in the final quarter hour. The last ASG on broadcast (ABC in '04) drew a 2.4 overnight (Josh Carpenter, Assistant Editor).

DROP IT LIKE IT'S HOT: In N.Y., Phil Mushnick sarcastically writes Saturday night’s All-Star skills competition on NBCSN "made for fine family viewing," as on-ice host Snoop Dogg "presented a vulgar rap song for the live in-arena and at-home audiences." Host Kenny Albert "apologized to viewers" after the song aired. Meanwhile, NBC's Mike Emrick near the top of yesterday's All-Star Game broadcast said, "Central (Division) in the purple. In the black, it is the Pacific. Can’t imagine there are black-and-white [TV] sets, anymore, but if you have that, we apologize" (N.Y. POST, 1/30).
