Facility Notes

In Orlando, Iliana Limon Romero notes Orlando City SC Founder Phil Rawlins yesterday "led a private ceremony unveiling 49 rainbow-colored seats honoring 49 Pulse Nightclub shooting victims." The seats are in section 12 of the new stadium that is "set to open in March" at the start of the MLS season. Rawlins said that the seats are in a "prominent location in the stadium and will easily be recognized by anyone who visits the venue." He added that the seats have been "sold to fans with season tickets and should be occupied every game" (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 1/5).

LAND OF THE FREE: Cobb County (Ga.) Commissioners yesterday "announced the creation of an advisory committee" for the Braves' SunTrust Park leading up to Opening Day. In Atlanta, Meris Lutz notes the committee will "consist of about 30 people" and is supposed to "open communication among various stakeholders who are affected by the ballpark." Additionally, the committee will help "make sure all deadlines are met in time for first pitch" (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 1/5).

LOCKED & UNLOADED: In Las Vegas, Eli Segall notes UFC has "sold an office building at its central Las Vegas headquarters as it prepares to move to the suburbs." The property is a "one-story, 5,136-square-foot building" and sold for $1.45M. UFC is "trying to sell other buildings at its corporate home ... as it develops a new headquarters in southwest Las Vegas, perhaps the fastest-growing area of the valley" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 1/5).
