UFC Hires Former ESPN, WWE Commentator Todd Grisham Following Goldberg's Departure

Todd Grisham, a longtime WWE commentator and former ESPN anchor, has "joined the UFC’s broadcast team," according to Matt Connolly of FORBES. There are "conflicting reports on when Grisham will debut" for UFC. According to ESPN's Brett Okamoto, Grisham's "first assignment will be anchoring" the FS1 desk for the UFC’s next event -- a Jan. 15 Fight Night card in Phoenix. MMA Fighting's Marc Raimondi is "reporting that Grisham will not appear until Jan. 28 for UFC on Fox 23 in Denver." According to SiriusXM’s Michael Stets, Grisham will do "play-by-play exclusively" on FS1. It has also been "rumored that Grisham's UFC contract is a short-term deal spanning four FS1 events." Grisham is an "avid combat sports fan with experience covering Glory Kickboxing and commentating for ESPN’s 'Friday Night Fights.'" He also "briefly served as the host of 'MMA Live' on ESPN, taking over for Jon Anik after he joined the UFC" in '11. While Grisham is by "no means the UFC’s sole replacement" for Mike Goldberg, he "could be one of the commentators auditioning for a permanent seat next to Joe Rogan" (FORBES.com, 1/3).
