MLB Teams Went Big With Playoff Giveaway Orders, Including Some Without Home Game

Washington-based BDA, which serves as the exclusive provider of premium MLB postseason stadium giveaways, produced a record 2.1 units of premium merch this postseason for teams and partners, according to data provided to THE DAILY. The Indians led the way, ordering 390,000 rally towels. The Orioles ordered more than 100,000 sponsored rally towels, but did not host a game after losing on the road in the AL Wild Card. Similarly, the Cardinals, who did not make the playoffs, ordered merch. The Giants ordered enough orange towels to hand out all the way through the World Series. Most clubs did not order items printed with dates, meaning the goodies can be distributed in the future. Among MLB partners, Anheuser-Busch and Pepsi were the two brands that placed orders. A-B ordered a total 65,000 units of Budweiser postseason towels, beads, koozies, caps and t-shirts for the Cubs, Indians, Mets, Nationals, Orioles and Red Sox. Pepsi ordered 7,500 World Series t-shirts proclaiming the Cubs' victory. The Cubs also had ordered some flags, pennants and cheer cards, while the Nationals ordered a small amount of t-shirts. Otherwise, all team orders consisted of rally towels.
