Michigan Leads Average College Football Attendance For 18th Time In 19 Seasons

With an average of 110,468 per game at Michigan Stadium during the '16 season, Michigan has now led college football in average home attendance for 18 out of the last 19 seasons. The school’s 16-year streak of leading the country was snapped in '14 when Ohio State took the top spot. In November, the two rivals set a new Ohio Stadium attendance record of 110,045. Five other Big Ten schools also landed inside the top 25 average crowds this season, but the SEC led all conferences with 10 teams in the top 25. In September, Oklahoma unveiled its $160M renovation project to Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium that added 1,800 club seats, 66 loge boxes, 20 suites and two party suites, which led to a slight increase in attendance. Although it was not a home game for either Tennessee or Virginia Tech, the two teams matched up at Bristol Motor Speedway in September and played in front of an NCAA-record crowd of 156,990 fans.
