MLG To Broadcast Weekend E-Sports Tournament From Las Vegas On YouTube

E-sports streaming platform and tourney operator MLG has struck a deal with YouTube to simulcast live matches from its MLG Vegas tournament this weekend. MLG.tv will extend its advertising deals to include impressions on YouTube, which already hosts a community of e-sports fans creating and consuming content about the competitions, MLG co-Founder and Activision Blizzard Senior VP Mike Sepso said. MLG also will promote its “enhanced viewing experience” product (an in-game live box score feature) via the YouTube extension. “We thought what YouTube offered us for this event in particular, and eyes toward the future, is the capability to reach a large, highly engaged e-sports fan base that’s consuming our content every day on YouTube, but with the capability to monetize that effectively,” Sepso said. “That’s really important to us.”
