Sports Anaheim Inks Deal With USA Volleyball To Remain In City; USA Badminton Moves HQ

Orange County’s Olympic movement "rose further" yesterday with a $1.3M deal between Sports Anaheim and USA Volleyball that will "keep the U.S. men’s and women’s national teams based in the city" through the '20 Tokyo Games, according to Scott Reid of the ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER. In addition to the extension, Sports Anaheim, the sports wing of the city’s tourism bureau, "entered into a marketing agreement with USA Volleyball and a deal with USA Badminton in which the governing body will move" its HQ and training base from Colorado Springs to Anaheim. In moving its on-court operation to Orange County, USA Badminton "follows a path similar to the one USA Volleyball took more than a decade ago." USA Badminton "will use the American Sports Center, already home to the U.S. volleyball teams, as its training center." The USA Badminton deal with Sports Anaheim runs through '24, and the USA Water Polo contract runs through '20 (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 12/13).
