To The Victor Go The Spoils: Cubs' Kris Bryant Signs Record Extension With Adidas

adidas on Thursday announced it has reached a multiyear extension of its endorsement deal with Cubs 3B Kris Bryant. The reigning NL MVP will continue to play a lead role in the brand's marketing campaigns while collaborating on future cleats and accessories (adidas). ESPN's Darren Rovell reported the agreement is a "record breaking MLB shoe deal," worth more than $1M annually and in the "neighborhood of a decade long" (TWITTER.com, 12/8). The deal was negotiated by Bryant's agent, Scott Boras. Bryant said of adidas' momentum in baseball, "I have friends in the league texting me that they’re wanting to switch over to adidas" (NICEKICKS.com, 12/8).

TOURING THE HEARTLAND: THE ATHLETIC's Jon Greenberg reported State Farm will serve as the presenting sponsor for the Cubs' World Series trophy tour "through Chicago and parts of the Midwest." The tour begins Friday afternoon at the team's new pop-up store on Michigan Avenue, and the trophy will appear next Thursday at Chicago City Hall. It will then go "on the road through Illinois, Indiana and Iowa." The trophy will visit the team's RBI program and will "make stops during the Cubs Caravan and Cubs Convention in January" (THEATHLETIC.com, 12/8).
