The first NCAA basketball game to ever be broadcast live nationally on Twitter came on Nov. 6 when the Boise State women’s team hosted Division II Alaska-Fairbanks in an exhibition game.

The game was part of Campus Insiders’ live streaming deal with Twitter announced earlier this summer, and more college basketball will continue to be featured on the social media site.

Cal Poly men’s team playing at Pepperdine on Friday in the season opener for both teams and Saint Louis women’s basketball at Loyola Marymount on Sunday were games that could been seen live on Twitter.

And on Tuesday, Murray State at Middle Tennessee will mark the second men’s college basketball game streamed live on the social platform. SMU playing Boise State on Nov. 30 will also appear on Twitter.

“Twitter is the fastest way to see what’s happening in sports,” said Anthony Noto, Twitter’s Chief Financial Officer this summer in a statement. “Our partnership with Campus Insiders will bring live streaming video of college sports directly to the people who are already talking about it on Twitter, all on a single screen.”

According to Silver Chalice, parent company for Campus Insiders, multiple regular season games from the Big 12 Conference, Mountain West Conference, West Coast Conference, Patriot League, CIAA and Conference USA will be live streamed on Twitter throughout the 2016-17 season.

This year, the Atlantic 10 Conference is also broadcasting men’s college basketball games on social but instead of Twitter, it’s directing its efforts toward Facebook Live. During the current season, 10-15 games will be live streamed on the conference page and within Facebook’s News Feed.
