In Charleston, David Caraviello notes South Carolina’s planned $50M football operations building "overcame its final remaining hurdle Monday, when the State Fiscal Accountability Authority gave its approval." The school "expects to begin construction on the facility around the first of the year," with completion slated for August '18. The authority approved the request for the "issuance and sale of bonds not exceeding" $46M. The approval came only after Gov. Nikki Haley questioned why the school "had so relatively little cash on hand despite reported revenues from SEC distribution and an extended agreement with apparel provider Under Armour" (Charleston POST & COURIER, 11/8).
MOVIN' ON UP: Troy Univ. on Thursday "announced plans to move forward" with a $24M upgrade that will "enclose the team’s football stadium." In Alabama, Brad Harper notes the school on Saturday will have a "groundbreaking for the new north end zone facility that will include 402 club-level seats, a terrace space, a high-level concessions area and a 35-foot by 90-foot video board." Troy plans to finish it by Sept. 1, 2018 (MONTGOMERY ADVERTISER, 11/11).
FIELD OF DREAMS: Niagara Univ. has "announced planned improvements to Bobo Field, the home of its baseball team and the Niagara softball field." The project will "begin upon the conclusion" of the '17 season and is "scheduled to be completed by the end of next August." Niagara said that "approximately 60 percent" of the $1.4M needed for the project "is in place" (BUFFALO NEWS, 11/9).
