Clinton Outspends Trump On Advertising Airing During National TV Sports Programming

Hillary Clinton since July 1 has spent nearly two and a half times as much as Donald Trump advertising during nationally televised sports programming, according to THE DAILY's analysis of iSpot.tv data. Around 71% of the $22.4M Clinton spent on sportscasts since July 1 came during Rio Olympic coverage on NBC's family of networks. Her sports outlay made up one-third of her total TV ad spend during that span. Trump's $9.5M made up 44% of his total ad spend during that period. Some 45% of those expenditures went to NFL coverage and 39% went to MLB. Golf, talk shows and NASCAR picked up the last few spots. While the majority of Clinton's sports buys occurred in July, Trump's first came once football season began.
