Facility Notes

Two of Sacramento's largest labor organizations yesterday said that they “oppose the plan to build” a MLS stadium in the downtown railyard, because USL club Sacramento Republic FC “has not committed to allowing stadium food-service workers to organize.” In Sacramento, Ryan Lillis notes the City Council is “scheduled to vote Thursday night on an environmental impact report for the railyard development" (SACRAMENTO BEE, 11/8).

PATRIOT ACT: In Providence, Kate Bramson notes the Patriots and Rhode Island-based Carousel Industries have "worked recently to upgrade Gillette Stadium’s Wi-Fi network." The team last week announced “sweeping upgrades” to the Wi-Fi network. The Patriots' current partner, Extreme Networks, has “worked on the team’s and stadium’s wireless networks” since ‘13 (PROVIDENCE JOURNAL, 11/8).

RAMPING UP: In Minneapolis, Eric Roper noted Wisconsin-based retailer Mills Fleet Farm is “paying to have its name and logo emblazoned on a new parking ramp beside U.S. Bank Stadium, but the public entities that paid to build the garage won’t see a dime,” as “all the money” goes to the Vikings. The original stadium-use agreement “called for the team to split the naming rights with the state agency that owns the ramp and the stadium.” But last year, the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority “struck a new deal that allowed the Vikings to collect all the renaming revenue -- an undisclosed amount -- from the publicly owned ramp” (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 11/7).
