Cavs' LeBron James Campaigns With Hillary Clinton In Cleveland Ahead Of Election Day

Hillary Clinton yesterday "made another stop in Cleveland" and was joined by Cavaliers F and Akron native LeBron James in the Cleveland Public Auditorium, according to Betty Lin-Fisher of the AKRON BEACON JOURNAL. James "came out first, followed by Clinton." James then also invited Cavs G J.R. Smith and his daughter "onto the stage." In short remarks before Clinton took the podium, James said that he "knows coming from an inner-city Akron neighborhood that people think their votes don’t count." But he added that "they do." Clinton said in return, “I have to really thank LeBron. What he does on the basketball court you all know is special. But I am just as impressed, as I have told him, about what he does off the court, because what he does off the court is to care for every child as if that child were his own" (AKRON BEACON JOURNAL, 11/7). Meanwhile, in DC, Dan Steinberg reports former NFLcoach Mike Shanahan "continued his support of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign over the weekend, speaking at a Saturday night Trump rally in Denver." Shanahan, who has "hosted a Trump fundraiser and spoken at a previous Trump rally," focused on his "personal relationship" with Trump (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 11/7).

BEHIND THE BACK PASS?
Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban on Friday said that he was "personally approached for help by someone who wanted to pay Donald Trump to drop out of the presidential race." In Dallas, Jamie Lovegrove noted Cuban was asked earlier in the day by reporters on Clinton's campaign plane if the Koch brothers, "major Republican donors, had attempted to bribe Trump to leave the GOP primaries." Cuban: "They tried." But Cuban later "clarified that he didn't mean the Kochs were involved." Cuban in an email wrote, "I had discussion about a Trump buyout. That's as much as I can tell u." Cuban "declined to say who was involved" and he "would not say how much the offer was intended to be." Cuban said that the discussions were held "shortly after the Democratic National Convention" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 11/5).

TRUMP CARD
: GOLF WORLD’s Jaime Diaz writes with "several purchases of golf properties in recent years, Trump has become a major player in the sport," and until he "began his run for president, Trump was generally seen as a positive force in the game." There are those who "believe it would be a positive to have an avid player more closely involved with the business of golf in the White House." But others would "wonder whether Trump's views on immigration and comments about women, as well as his belief that golf is an aspirational rather than a grassroots game would feed into damaging stereotypes of golf as exclusionary" (GOLF WORLD MONDAY, 11/7 issue).
