Overnight Ratings: Alabama-LSU Leads CFB Week 9; Breeders' Cup Classic Down

Alabama’s 10-0 win over LSU on Saturday night drew a 6.0 overnight rating for CBS, marking the second-best figure for any college football game this season to date, but down from a 6.3 overnight for the same primetime matchup last season. The Alabama-LSU matchup has aired in primetime on CBS every season since ’11. The 6.0 is the second-lowest overnight since that primetime window began, falling ahead of only the 5.3 rating in ’14. However, the 6.0 is well above figures for the game when it aired in the 3:30pm ET window. Alabama-LSU peaked at a 7.5 rating on Saturday from 10:30-11:00pm. Meanwhile, ABC up against Alabama-LSU drew a 3.0 overnight for Ohio State's throttling of Nebraska.

HORSE OF A DIFFERENT COLOR: NBC on Saturday night drew a 1.6 overnight for the Breeders' Cup Classic from Santa Anita Park, which saw Arrogate edge California Chrome for the win. That figure is down from a 2.6 overnight last year for an afternoon telecast from Keeneland, where American Pharoah won the “grand slam” of horse racing. This year’s rating also is downfrom a 1.8 overnight for the '14 race, which also aired in primetime. The 1.6 this year is up from a 1.4 on a Saturday afternoon in ’13.
