Watchmaker Tissot Becomes Hornets' Newest Sponsor In Multiyear Agreement

The Hornets today are rolling out a multiyear partnership with Tissot, which will serve as the official watch of the team. This marks the first time in franchise history that the team has designated an official watch partner. As part of the deal, a Hornets-branded Tissot watch will be available for purchase at the team's official store inside Spectrum Center. The watch has a strap that matches the team colors and a Hornets logo on the caseback. Tissot also will have in-arena signage on courtside rotational boards, LED ads on basket stanchions and logo and watch graphics on one basket pole pad. The Hornets and Tissot both used in-house staff to negotiate the deal, and CAA will be the agency involved in activation (THE DAILY). In Charlotte, Erik Spanberg reports the deal is worth $200,000-400,000 per year and makes the Hornets "one of six clubs" in the NBA to sign with Tissot. The brand became a league-wide sponsor last year. As part of that agreement, Tissot became the official "shot-clock timekeeper at all 29 arenas in the league." The watch in the team store is "selling for $395." Tissot will also "back an online fan sweepstakes and be featured on the team website as part of a countdown clock to the next game" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 11/2).
