Auburn AD: Jordan-Hare Stadium Renovations Not Expected To Start Until After '17 Season

Auburn AD Jay Jacobs yesterday confirmed that the "massive renovations project for the north end zone of Jordan-Hare Stadium" will not be started "until at least the completion" of the '17 football season, according to Matthew Stevens of the MONTGOMERY ADVERTISER. Jacobs said that with Auburn having home games against Georgia and Alabama next year, he "didn't want to 'disrupt anything'" for the '17 season. Stevens notes renovations include "multiple levels in the north end zone, premium seating, club-level seating on two levels, a terrace, bench seating at field level, new amenities and a wider concourse." Sources said that feedback from a survey sent to potential donors and Auburn boosters last December revealed the renovations, which were initially estimated at $145M, were "not currently financially viable." Jacobs said that the feedback from the survey has been "'positive' but admitted that renovations are 'a sensitive topic' to fans with season tickets in the north section of the stadium." The project was "supposed to not only increase the amount of club level seating but increase the overall 87,451-seat capacity of Jordan-Hare Stadium, which hasn't been increased" since '04 (MONTGOMERY ADVERTISER, 11/2).
