Secondary Ticket Prices For Game 7 Moving Downward As First Pitch Approaches

The secondary ticket market for World Series Game 7 continues to see rising supply, which in turn is driving prices downward. Minimum listings for tonight’s game are now below $900, down by 40% from $1,500 following last night’s Game 6. During Game 6, starting prices jumped up from $1,300 to more than $1,500 as the Cubs built a 7-0 lead en route to their 9-3 win. But overnight and into this morning, prices retreated significantly as available inventory outpaced Games 1-2 by double-digit percentages, and doubled the amount of available inventory during the ALCS, according to ticket data firm Eventellect. The average sales price for Game 7 is $2,143, according to SeatGeek, up 27% compared to the start of the World Series. The figures are historically very high for baseball, but remain a fraction of prices for World Series Games 3-5 last weekend at Wrigley Field that each surpassed $3,000. Another heavy influx of Cubs fans is expected tonight at Progressive Field, as SeatGeek browsing data found that 42% of shoppers for Game 7 tickets are from the Chicago area, compared to just 6% from greater Cleveland. On a state level, 44% of shoppers are from Illinois, with 11% from Ohio.
