An analysis of OpenSecrets.org shows NFL owners who "traditionally lean Republican, are virtually nowhere to be found" on DONALD TRUMP's donation list. Four years ago, 11 pro owners "donated money" to MITT ROMNEY. This year two owners donated to Trump's campaign: the Texans' BOB MCNAIR and Jets' WOODY JOHNSON. Also donating to Trump was Golf Digest's DAN JENKINS. Meanwhile, HILLARY CLINTON has "donations from some high-profile sports names," including MUHAMMAD ALI (prior to his death), ALEX RODRIGUEZ, BILLIE JEAN KING, Steelers coach MIKE TOMLIN, Buccaneers co-Chair EDWARD GLAZER, Red Sox Chair TOM WERNER, President SAM KENNEDY, NFL Giants Chair & Exec VP STEVE TISCH, Eagles Owner JEFFREY LURIE, NCAA Chief Legal Officer DONALD REMY, NBA Commissioner ADAM SILVER, Under Armour Founder, Chair & CEO KEVIN PLANK, Penguins President & CEO DAVID MOREHOUSE and attorney JEFFREY KESSLER (CBSSPORTS.com, 10/27).

NEWS FROM THE COMMONWEALTH: The Boston Business Journal released its annual "Power 50: The Game Changers" list, and included in the list are New Balance Chair JAMES DAVIS, MLL Boston Cannons Majority Owner ROB HALE, Boston Globe Media Partners Managing Dir LINDA PIZUTTI-HENRY and DraftKings co-Founder & CEO JASON ROBINS (BIZJOURNALS.com, 10/27)....New Balance on Tuesday "hosted a private event for its employees" featuring former MLBer DAVID ORTIZ." Ortiz "graciously snapped photos with employees and "took part in an informal Q&A session at Warrior Ice Arena," the Bruins' new practice facility at New Balance HQ (BOSTON GLOBE, 10/28).

NAMES: MICHAEL JORDAN is planning to build a new 18-hole golf course in Martin County, Fla. Jordan “would be the principal owner” of the course and has “about 25 investors putting up” $1M (TCPALM.com, 10/27)....A jury awarded former Penn State assistant football coach MIKE MCQUEARY $7.3M in his case against the school. He “sued the university, claiming he suffered for his part in the grand jury investigation and child abuse sex trial of JERRY SANDUSKY” (CENTREDAILY.com, 10/27)....Pro Football HOFer JOE MONTANA stars in a "cringe-worthy" ad/music video endorsing S.F. Supervisor SCOTT WIENER for state senate. The "lowlight" of the ad is Montana and it is "entirely possible he was not told that anyone was filming" (SFCHRONICLE.com, 10/27)....The Rams, in partnership with the NFL, have "reached [an] agreement to provide" the L.A. Unified School District with a "large equipment/apparel donation to the 67 schools that play football." TIMES, 10/28)....Maryland basketball coach MARK TURGEON "signed a four-year contract extension" through the '22-23 season.
