NBA Expands Partnership With Snapchat, Adds Bitmoji Feature

The NBA announced that it has renewed and expanded its partnership with Snapchat to include more coverage of key games and fans attending games being able to use NBA-themed Bitmojis and Lenses.

At games, your Bitmoji will have more outfits to choose from than the usual Forever 21, Bitmoji Casual and Bergdorf Goodman choices. With the NBA’s new deal, if you’re attending Kevin Durant’s first official game with the Golden State Warriors, you can deck your Bitmoji out in Warriors’ gear and post it to your snap story.

You can also choose options that display your Bitmoji on the jumbotron, or show you in uniform throwing up 3-pointers.

The NBA is the first professional sports league to partner with Bitmoji for custom Bitmoji packs.

Also starting Opening Night, NBA fans will be able to view the first Discover edition and watch Live Story coverage of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ ring ceremony, Stephen Curry and the Warriors, as well as a compilation of other NBA chatter.

Fans will still be able to enjoy the “scoreboard” Geofilters that automatically updates the score in near real-time throughout the games.

The league first began its relationship with Snapchat in 2014 and showed behind-the-scenes clips from the All-Star Game in New Orleans. Snapchat also was used during the 2014 NBA draft.
