MLS Sets Third Consecutive Attendance Record During '16 Season, Led Again By Sounders

MLS set its third consecutive attendance record this season, with an average of 21,692 per game across the league’s 340 matches in ‘16, up 0.62% over last season. Across MLS, 11 of 20 clubs saw year-over-year increases in attendance. The Sounders led the league in attendance for the eighth consecutive year -- every year since its launch -- despite a 3.64% decline year over year. The Impact led the league in gains with attendance up 16.4% compared to last season. FC Dallas saw both the steepest decline at 12% and lowest attendance at 14,094 across the league despite finishing with the league’s highest point total. Combined, the league had a record 162 sellouts, one more than last season.
