Broadcasting & Cable last night inducted its '16 HOF class, which included TNT's "Inside The NBA." During the show's acceptance speech, TNT's CHARLES BARKLEY recognized former NBC Sports Chair DICK EBERSOL for "first suggesting he'd do well in TV." Patriots Owner ROBERT KRAFT also was inducted, and he said, "I look forward to taking the country's most popular content forward over devices and mediums I couldn't have imagined 20 years ago." Univision President of Ad Sales & Marketing KEITH TURNER and Tribune Media CEO PETER LIGIORI were also inducted (BROADCASTINGCABLE.com, 10/18).

CROSSOVER DRIBBLE: Former NBAer STEVE NASH, after a "falling-out with his business partners," is going to court "seeking an order preventing his name or image from being used in relation to 21 fitness facilities" around British Columbia. Nash "alleges that there was a breach of contract between his company," B & L Holdings, and SNFW Fitness B.C., the company "currently running the facilities." B & L Holdings also "names as defendants Nash's business partners," Kings investor MARK MASTROV and Montreal businessman LEONARD SCHLEMM (VANCOUVER SUN, 10/19).

TALKING HEAD: Former MLBer CURT SCHILLING "continues to tease about a possible election challenge" to U.S. Sen. ELIZABETH WARREN (D-Mass.) in '18, suggesting that he "will run if his wife, SHONDA, gives her blessing." Schilling, appearing on Providence-based WPRO-AM yesterday, also discussed his 38 Studios company, which moved from Massachusetts to Rhode Island in '10 in exchange for a $75M loan guarantee, then "went bankrupt less than two years later." Schilling "faulted politicians for giving him a loan guarantee in the first place." Schilling said, "If I was the governor, I would have never even offered this deal. The government doesn't belong in private business" (BOSTON GLOBE, 10/19).

Medical Center to dedicate his "Kelly Tough" room (BUFFALO NEWS, 10/19)....New Smyrna Speedway yesterday was “alive with activity” as 17 NASCAR drivers from the U.S., Canada and Mexico “took part in the Drive For Diversity Combine.” Participants had “physical fitness assessments and media training” at Bethune-Cookman Univ. on Monday (Daytona Beach NEWS-JOURNAL, 10/19)....Capitals G BRADEN HOLTBY during the World Cup of Hockey “paid tribute to the beloved Canadian rock band THE TRAGICALLY HIP” with a custom-painted Team Canada goalie mask. Yesterday the NHLPA announced that Holtby’s mask “raised more than $21,000 at auction, which will benefit two foundations established in honor” of the band’s lead singer, GORD DOWNIE, who has a terminal brain tumor (WASHINGTON POST, 10/19)....Nike CMO GREG HOFFMAN was included in AD AGE’s “Power Players” issue (AD AGE, 10/17 issue)....Dr. CHARLES KOWALSKI, an emergency room physician who lives in Ottawa, will donate $250,000 to Predators D P.K. SUBBAN’s fund at the Montreal’s Children Hospital, P.K.’s Helping Hand (MONTREAL GAZETTE, 10/19). Kowalski recently took out a full-page ad in the Montreal Gazette to protest the trade of Subban to the Predators in the offseason (THE DAILY).
