Life After Graduation: Former Texas AD Dodds Honored, Kansas' Perkins Joins USA Boxing

The Univ. of Texas yesterday honored former AD DELOSS DODDS with the creation of the Mary Ann & DeLoss Dodds Legacy Campaign to "support former UT athletes who wish to return to campus and finish their degrees." The Longhorn Foundation "aims to raise $775,000 to complete one fully endowed scholarship." School officials "had raised $275,707 from 120 donors" as of yesterday (AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN, 10/19).

IN THE RING: Former Univ. of Kansas AD LEW PERKINS has a new role with USA Boxing, where he will "serve as a 'semi-spokesperson' and business advisor who has taken the stance that he will be the one to challenge ideas to make sure they're right." Perkins is "doing individual counseling and mentoring with coaches and athletes all over the country." Perkins said that he "still loves living in Lawrence" where he is "on the board of the Lawrence Country Club and plays golf four days a week." He added that he "still attends some KU basketball games" (K.C. STAR, 10/19).
