Genius Sports has long worked to deliver its live statistics tool in basketball and is now launching its Football LiveStats system to collect real-time data for Lega Serie B in Italy.
The announcement came as Genius Sports became the official data partner of Lega B, acquiring the rights to distribute to the data to the media until the conclusion of the 2018-19 season. Live streaming and stats will also be made available to betting operators.
The Football LiveStats system will enable fans to keep track of scores and performance-based statistics on websites and mobile apps.
“Genius Sports offers an innovative approach and is committed to maximising the value of sports data in the long-term,” Federico Smanio, Head of Digital and Fan Relationship Management at Lega B, said in a statement. “Lega B is committed to a digital transformation journey and creating an even more engaging experience for Serie B fans.”
Genius Sports in May announced a partnership with La Liga to access to the only official pre-match, in-running and post-match data feed available for Spanish football.
Genius Sports’ LiveStats technology is more known for basketball, as FIBA has used it for live stats for more than a decade. Last week, the company was selected by Liga ACB in Spain as its official data partner on a three-year contract that includes the live stats tool and the exclusive rights to distribute data for betting purposes. In May, Genius Sports extended its partnership with the Belarusian Basketball Federation for data rights.
