76ers Hire Video Game Vet Kemp To Head E-Sports Franchise Team Dignitas

The 76ers have hired video game industry veteran JONATHAN KEMP as CEO of Team Dignitas, the e-sports franchise it acquired in September. Kemp’s first priorities will be integrating the brands of Dignitas and Team Apex, the smaller franchise that was simultaneously acquired, and developing a commercial strategy. He will work from Menlo Park, Calif., along with Team Dignitas Chair GREG RICHARDSON. Kemp has previously been a senior exec and board member at Eidos, the game developer behind hit titles like "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" and "Hitman," and also managing marketing campaigns for the Wasps Rugby football club. Richardson and Kemp have known each other for 15 years, but 76ers brass agreed he was the right man for the CEO role after a meeting in early September, said team VP/Ticket Sales & Servicing JAKE REYNOLDS. Richardson will represent the team’s interests across the broad e-sports industry while Kemp will focus more internally. “I thought this was just a perfect place for me to end up and add value,” Kemp said.
