Magic Appearing Act: NBA Club To Present Preseason Game Solely On Facebook Live

The Magic will live stream tonight's preseason game against the Spurs on Facebook, a first for the team. The game, which has no scheduled TV outlet, will be available to anyone on Facebook within a 75-mile radius of Amway Center per NBA rules. The team will use the in-arena video feed from Amway Center along with the radio broadcast of play-by-play announcer Dennis Neumann and analyst Richie Adubato in its live streaming production. Users can access the live stream, which will not contain any ads, via the team’s Facebook page. Magic CEO Alex Martins said, “This is a product of the social media response over the fact that we didn’t broadcast our first preseason game. This is a test. We will see how it goes and determine what the next steps may be.” Martins added that the live stream will look different from a typical television production. “It is not network quality, it is arena quality and not what fans may be accustomed to,” he said. “It is in response to a demand to watch the preseason games. We have a new coach and new players and there is anticipation in the market about the team.” The Mavericks on Saturday live streamed a preseason game on Facebook. The NBA said that there are no other teams currently scheduled to live stream upcoming preseason games on Facebook.
