Media Notes

St. Louis-based KMOV-CBS on Sunday will show Bengals-Cowboys in the late-afternoon window instead of Bills-Rams. In St. Louis, Dan Caesar notes the Rams are 3-1 for the "first time in a decade and have drawn decent, but not great, ratings in their former city for their three games that have been televised in the market." But KMOV GM Mike Murphy on said the net "just didn't think our viewers would be that excited" about Bills-Rams. He added carrying Bengals-Cowboys was the "right thing to do," as there are a "lot of Dallas fans here" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 10/7). In L.A., Tom Hoffarth notes this is the one Rams broadcast CBS will have this season, and the net is treating the game "almost as an expanded corporate outing," led by CBS Chair, President & CEO Les Moonves (L.A. DAILY NEWS, 10/7).

EXPANDED PROFILE
: In Boston, Chad Finn writes ESPN anchor Jade McCarthy has "seen her profile expand ... in recent years with an increasingly prominent role" on the net that includes "SportsCenter" hosting duties. She has "thrived in the revamped 'SportsCenter' format, which has become much more personality-driven in recent years, and received a multiyear contract extension this week." McCarthy said, "It's fun to be able to embrace that approach. ... It's just fun to be able to share that natural side of yourself, to let your actual personality come through. I'm really happy with how it's going" (BOSTON GLOBE, 10/7).

FILLING IN
: Univ. of Michigan football analyst Jon Jansen, who "handles the pre- and post-game shows and halftime," will serve as the radio color analyst when UM plays Rutgers on Saturday. Regular analyst Dan Dierdorf is "dealing with a muscle issue that has put him on the sideline this weekend" (DETROIT NEWS, 10/7).
