Blue Jays Lead AL Teams In MLB Attendance, Snapping Yankees' 13-Year Run At Top

MLB's average attendance of 30,169 for the '16 regular season fell just shy (-1.1%) of last year’s mark. The Blue Jays finished with an average of 41,878 fans at Rogers Centre, the team’s highest since '94, snapping the Yankees’ 13-year streak of leading the AL in attendance. The Blue Jays saw the biggest increase among all MLB clubs, up 21% this season. The Indians also experienced double-digit growth leading up to the team’s first AL Central division title since '07. Despite being down from last season’s record attendance, the Royals drew the second-most fans in franchise history. While the Rays increased attendance by 3% this season at Tropicana Field, they were still last among MLB teams with an average of 15,879 per game. The Twins had their smallest average attendance in their seven seasons at Target Field and the club's lowest figure since '05. The A's (-14%) and the wild-card Orioles (-9.9%) also had sharp drops at the gate. Below are attendance figures for AL clubs this season. For NL figures, see tomorrow's issue.
