Las Vegas Expansion NHL Team Hires Cavaliers Exec Kerry Bubolz As President

The Las Vegas expansion NHL team yesterday made one of its "most important hires" in selecting Cavaliers President of Business Operations KERRY BUBOLZ as its president, according to Steve Carp of the LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL. Bubolz, who spent 13 years with the Cavs, was responsible for the Cavaliers’ "oversight of ticket and suite sales; corporate sponsorship revenue; broadcasting, marketing and communications; and fan and community engagement.” He also oversaw the AHL Cleveland Monsters and the NBA D-League Canton Charge. Las Vegas NHL Owner BILL FOLEY said, “We interviewed a lot of people for this position. All six finalists for the job stood out. But I felt Kerry had the maturity and the knowledge to work with [GM GEORGE MCPHEE] and me. What I also like is he worked in Carolina and Dallas, two nontraditional hockey markets which I think will be invaluable in his working for us.” Carp notes Bubolz, who will “officially start his new job at the end of the month, knows there is much work to do.” He was “part of the pool of executives that Foley found" in a national search by Turnkey. He will “report directly to Foley but will also work with McPhee” (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 10/4).
