NHL Network Expanding Weekday Studio Shows, Bringing On New On-Air Talent

NHL Network will expand its live weekday studio programming during the '16-’17 season, launching a new show called "NHL Now." The show, which will air at 4:00pm ET and be co-hosted by EJ Hradek, Steve Mears and Michelle McMahon, will aim to provide a faster-paced format and a look around the league, highlighted by player and coach interviews from morning skates and practices. The show will debut on Oct. 12, the opening night of the season. McMahon, who previously provided coverage of the Hurricanes for FS Carolinas, is new to the network, as well as Chuck Gormley, who will serve as a regular contributor and most recently was a Capitals reporter for CSN Mid-Atlantic. The net also will add former NHLer Scott Gomez to its stable of on-air analysts. NHL Network’s flagship show, "NHL Tonight," will return at an earlier 6:00pm time, featuring game previews in addition to look-ins at live games and highlights. Nightly highlight show, "On The Fly," will return as well. In addition to the three daily studio shows, the net will continue to air regular-season games. It currently is scheduled to air a 10-game slate in October, with more games being announced for later in the season at a later date.
