Mike Francesa Announces Date For Final WFAN Show, No Future Plans With Chris Russo

Mike Francesa yesterday announced that his "final show" on WFAN-AM will be Friday, Dec. 15, 2017, according to Bernie Augustine of the N.Y. DAILY NEWS. He said that his plan for the future "will not include a reunion with Chris 'Mad Dog' Russo" on SiriusXM Radio. Francesa: "I won’t be going to satellite, it’s just not something I want to do. I have a few things that do interest me, that’s not one of them. It has nothing to do with Dog being there" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 9/30). Meanwhile, Russo said of his new three-year deal with Sirius, "I just felt if they were going to be fair ... it was going to be a no-brainer. I know people are going to bring up the 'Mike and the Mad Dog' thing -- I understand that -- I didn’t run it by Mike or ask him, 'What do you think, you and I?' This was just an independent decision that I had to make based on the fact that Sirius was good to me." Asked about his relationship with Francesa since the two hosted a show at Radio City Music Hall together in March, Russo said, "[We are] much closer. I’ve texted Mike a lot, he reached out when I got hit in the head with the golf ball and we talked about his horse that ran at Saratoga. That show secured the bond. We hadn’t talked in a long time and I think we both thought we did as well as we could under the circumstances. I feel the relationship with Mike and I now is very, very good" (N.Y. POST, 9/30).
