Media Notes

In N.Y., Bob Raissman writes tragedy "produces indelible memories." So people "won't forget watching Harold Reynolds and Fran Charles, on MLB Network early in the morning on an NFL Sunday, trying to explain" what happened to Marlins P Jose Fernandez and "express their feelings while dealing with their own sorrow." Then there was SNY's Keith Hernandez "fighting back tears" at the opening of the Phillies-Mets broadcast (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 9/26). SI.com's Richard Deitsch wrote ESPN MLB analyst Eduardo Perez and Hannah Storm provided an "honest, raw and powerful" response to Fernandez' death (SI.com, 9/25).

BEST BALL: GEEKWIRE's Taylor Soper noted the PGA Tour's over-the-top service is "essentially a miniature version of a full-blown broadcast production." The Tour has "dedicated team focused on PGA Tour Live and invested in eight cameras dedicated to the streaming coverage." There is even an "on-the-course reporter following the 'marquee' groups and providing commentary for the PGA Tour Live stream." When Tiger Woods returns at the Safeway Open next month, the "only way to watch some of his early play will be via PGA Tour Live." PGA Tour Dir of Shotlink Graphics Alex Turnbull said that the app "could possibly mimic" the NFL RedZone channel (GEEKWIRE.com, 9/25).

WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS: In Dallas, Barry Horn noted KESN-FM radio host Matt Mosley of "The Afternoon Show With Cowlishaw & Mosley" has "ended" his 10-year run. His most recent one-year deal with the station "expires in October." Mosley currently "writes for SportsDayDFW.com and Texas Monthly" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 9/24).
