Naming-Rights Vet Knapple Believes Rams Have "Great Opportunity" With New Venue

Van Wagner Sports & Entertainment President & CEO Jeff Knapple has been a part of numerous naming-rights deals over his years in the business, and he said the Rams have the "largest opportunity in the United States in front of them" with the Inglewood stadium set to open in '19. While it remains to be seen what the team will ultimately do, Knapple said, "They have a great opportunity. The design of the development is fantastic, and the return to L.A. is huge." He added during a panel at the AXS Sports Facilities & Franchises conference, "If you look at it from a real estate development standpoint, will they attract the day-in and day-out number of fans they are expecting? That’s to be determined. And will they be able to fold in a naming-rights partner across the entire development?” (THE DAILY).

RULING ON PSL HOLDERS: In St. Louis, Kristen Taketa reports U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri yesterday ruled the Rams must "grant season tickets to some people who bought personal seat licenses while the NFL team was in St. Louis." The court also ruled those PSLs "are still valid" despite the team’s move to L.A. The Rams must "refund deposits for others who bought PSLs, though a district judge was unable to determine an amount for those deposits." The ruling could be of "great interest of St. Louis PSL owners who wish to sell their PSLs, now that the Rams franchise is worth significantly more and any potential PSLs for the new Rams stadium" in L.A. could fetch "much higher prices" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 9/22).
