KeyBank Officially Takes Over Naming Rights For Sabres' Arena, Rebrands Some Areas

The Sabres' home arena "officially has a new name," as KeyBank yesterday formally took over naming rights to the venue after its purchase of First Niagara Bank, according to Matt Glynn of the BUFFALO NEWS. KeyBank "declined to discuss the terms of its naming-rights deal." But bank officials previously said that they were "picking up the 15-year agreement" that First Niagara signed in '11. Along with new signs and banners, visitors to KeyBank Center "will notice a few other differences," including free, enhanced WiFi. Pegula Sports & Entertainment in a statement added that the venue has been "outfitted with a lighting system, called Ephesus, that will 'create an enhanced viewing experience' and be more energy-efficient." The arena's ATMs also were "converted to Key’s brand, and the 200 level is now called the KeyBank Club, which will include a KeyBank Lounge." Additionally, KeyBank on Oct. 13 will "sponsor a free, pregame outdoor performance by DJ Kool, whose song 'Let Me Clear My Throat' is the Sabres’ official goal song" (BUFFALO NEWS, 9/20).
