Overnight Ratings: CBS Leads CFB Week 3 With Bama-Ole Miss; MLS Tries New Window

CBS on Saturday afternoon drew a 5.4 overnight rating for Alabama's come-from-behind win over Ole Miss, topping all CFB games over the weekend and up 100% from a 2.7 rating for the comparable Week 2 matchup last year (Auburn-LSU) in the same 3:30-7:00pm ET window. Saturday's game peaked at a 6.7 rating between 6:30-7:00pm. Meanwhile, Louisville's 63-20 rout of Florida State drew a 4.5 overnight for ABC in the noon window, the best rating for an ESPN network in that window in 11 years. The game drew a 28.6 local rating in Louisville, the highest ever for that market for a game on an ESPN network. Fox on Saturday night drew a 3.8 overnight for Ohio State's blowout win over Oklahoma, which was delayed by more than an hour due to inclement weather. Fox' all-time best college football regular-season rating was a 4.8 for last season's Notre Dame-Stanford matchup, which ended on a last-season field goal on Thanksgiving weekend. NBC on Saturday night drew a 3.2 overnight for Michigan State-Notre Dame.

WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY: Fox yesterday drew a 0.8 rating for the first-ever MLS regionalized coverage on broadcast TV, which featured Sporting KC-Galaxy (2:00pm ET start) and Toronto FC-Red Bulls (5:00pm) airing around the net's NFL singleheader coverage. The rating is expected to mark MLS' best regular-season audience to date.
