Marketplace Roundup

In DC, Scott Allen noted during the Redskins' loss to the Steelers on "MNF," Virginia-based pizza chain Paisano's "debuted a new ad" locally featuring six DC athletes from three sports. Redskins WR Pierre Garcon, who has been the "face of Paisano's since he joined the Redskins" in '12, is "featured in a 30-second spot," along with teammates DE Chris Baker, LB Ryan Kerrigan and former WR Santana Moss. They are joined by a "couple of new additions" -- former NBAer Gheorghe Muresan and Capitals D Karl Alzner. The ad was shot by ESB Advertising, Virginia (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 9/14).

KING FOR A DAY
: NASCAR driver Danica Patrick as part of a Q&A with USA TODAY's Jeff Gluck was asked if the president of NASCAR was an elected official voted on by the drivers and you decided to run, what would your campaign promises be? Patrick: "I would promise the drivers would be able to sell their merchandise and make the money they’re supposed to make off it." She added, "I’m pretty sure they’re not buying the shirt because it’s NASCAR; otherwise they’d just buy a shirt that says 'NASCAR' on it. I feel pretty screwed in that department" (USATODAY.com, 9/14).

THEY'RE GRRRREAT: In Cincinnati, Dave Clark notes Bengals TE Tyler Eifert will introduce "Tyler's Touchdown Crunch," next Tuesday at a "media-only event" at the Oakley Kroger Marketplace. "Tyler's Touchdown Crunch" -- a "frosted corn flakes cereal -- comes packaged in a 14 oz. Limited Edition Collector's Box." It will only be available online or at participating Cincinnati-area Kroger stores (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 9/16).

HATERS GONNA HATE: THE RINGER's Claire McNear wrote, "Why do you hate Color Rush uniforms? ... Is it because they are weird? Is it because the pants are the same color as the shirt ... Is it because they are different and too self-assured in their boldness?" McNear: "It's very simple: Color Rush uniforms are here, and they are great. Well, except for the Jaguars'. A person can only handle so much change" (THERINGER.com, 9/14).
