LSU AD Alleva Developing Plans For Possible Beer Garden, Food Court At Tiger Stadium

LSU AD Joe Alleva on Saturday said that the school "has plans for an outdoor drinking area" at Tiger Stadium if the SEC allows it, according to Ross Dellenger of the Baton Rouge ADVOCATE. For now, alcohol sales "are only allowed in premium seating areas, including suites and club levels." Alleva said, “We’ve got some concepts on the board to develop food courts and, maybe, even a beer garden down the road. Those kinds of things are on the horizon and will make the experience in Tiger Stadium better for everybody.” Dellenger noted LSU "has long supported the idea of expanded beer sales." Alleva said that it will provide schools "expanded revenue streams, could help increase attendance and could make fans less likely to drink heavily before entering stadiums and arenas." Meanwhile, LSU plans to "spend the next two years creating additional restrooms and concessions while renovating and potentially expanding the existing ones." Officials are also "evaluating the long-term future of the south end zone dormitories, even toying with the idea of demolishing them to provide a more 'open' area to fans" (Baton Rouge ADVOCATE, 9/11).
