Rutgers To Face Maryland In Football-Wrestling Doubleheader At Yankee Stadium

Rutgers yesterday announced it will “host the ‘Big Ten Battle in the Bronx,’ a football and wrestling doubleheader” with Maryland at Yankee Stadium on Nov. 4, 2017,” according to J.P. Pelzman of the ASBURY PARK PRESS. It will mark the "first wrestling match in the history of Yankee Stadium, and will precede the football game.” RU will “host a similar event” at High Point Solutions Stadium on Nov. 19 -- dubbed “Battle at the Birthplace” -- facing Penn State in football and Princeton in wrestling (ASBURY PARK PRESS, 9/13). Rutgers AD Pat Hobbs in May said that the school “would honor an agreement made in principle by the university's previous athletics administration with the Yankees to move” a '17 home game against Maryland to Yankee Stadium, where Rutgers has played three times since ’11 (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 9/13).
