MAGIC MAN: Eagles LS JON DORENBOS, who "left the team last night for the final two shows" of "AMERICA'S GOT TALENT," will be "back in Philadelphia off a red-eye for practice Thursday" in preparation for next Monday's game against the Bears. Dorenbos’ talent is magic, and it has been "good enough to get him past several rounds of competition to the finals," which airs tomorrow night on NBC (MMQB.SI.com, 9/12). 

HEART OF GOLD: U.S. swimmer MICHAEL PHELPS yesterday competed on the live edition of "LIP SYNC BATTLE!" But when his opponent OLIVIA MUNN took the stage, she "decided to bring out" U.S. gymnasts ALY RAISMAN and SIMONE BILES. Munn said, "The only way to beat a gold medal champion is to bring two gold medal champions." Phelps: "That was awesome. I loved being on the team with these girls and seeing them perform is so special" (EONLINE.com, 9/11).  

GET WELL SOON: Former NFL coach SAM WYCHE is in the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte this morning in need of a heart transplant. His case is the "highest priority among transplant hopefuls," meaning he would be a "prime candidate if a heart is found within a 500-mile radius" (MMQB.SI.com, 9/12). 

CHARITY STRIPE: Steelers QB BEN ROETHLISBERGER has pledged to donate $1,000 for “every touchdown he throws this season to his foundation, which has supported K-9 units and service dogs at police and fire departments throughout the country” since ’07. The Ben Roethlisberger Foundation and the Giving Back Fund will “distribute grants to K-9 units in communities near the sites of Steelers’ eight road games this season” (WASHINGTON POST, 9/10).

NAMES: Maple Leafs President BRENDAN SHANAHAN and former Detroit News sportswriter TOM GAGE on Friday were inducted into the Michigan Sports HOF (MLIVE.com, 9/9).... Pro Football HOFer EMMITT SMITH's lifestyle club, The Gents Place, "will be expanding to the Houston Area." The franchise is "hoping to develop 10 clubs" in the area (CHRON.com, 9/9)....Pro Football HOFer TERRY BRADSHAW is the Exec Producer of gospel group THE ISAACS' new album, “Nature’s Symphony in 432.” Bradshaw “even sings with them on the final track, ‘Great is Thy Faithfulness.’” It is the “culmination of a three-year friendship that’s as tight-knit as it is unlikely” (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 9/10)....NHL Kings President of Business Operations LUC ROBITAILLE will “represent the league” at the Vatican’s Sport at the Service of Humanity event next month, hosted by POPE FRANCIS (TWITTER.com, 9/9).

IN MEMORY: Motorsports promoter LANNY EDWARDS passed away on Friday. Edwards, 76, was co-founder of the Chili Bowl Nationals sprint-car race in Tulsa, Okla. (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 9/10).
