PGA Of America Fills New Category, Brings On Constellation With Five-Year Deal

Constellation has signed a five-year deal to become the PGA of America's official energy provider and sustainability partner. The deal gives the Baltimore-based energy company rights to all of the PGA of America’s top events, including the Ryder Cup, PGA Championship, KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship and KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Specific financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the PGA of America's top-level deals are seven-figure annual agreements and include media, hospitality and on-course branding. Constellation will also work with the PGA of America on creating sustainability and energy management programs, beginning with the Ryder Cup at Hazeltine National Golf Club later this month. The deal with the PGA of America comes after Constellation in '14 signed on as the NHL’s official energy partner -- a deal that also includes a sustainability program. “We thought it would be a great venue to support the PGA of America while at the same time helping our brand from a sustainability standpoint with our customers,” said Constellation President of Retail Business Mark Huston. The Strategic Agency, N.Y., represents Constellation, while Connecticut-based SJX Partners reps the PGA of America. The deal fills a new category for the PGA of America as the organization also looks to address sustainability issues in golf. “It is something that is important for golf and for our members given that we should be one of the organizations leading the movement,” said PGA of America Chief Revenue Officer Kevin Ring.
