Tigers Tout Possibilities Of "District Detroit" Multi-Use Development Around Comerica Park

The Tigers on Saturday used their game against the Dodgers to "extol" the possibilities for The District Detroit, the $1.2B multi-use development unfolding outside Comerica Park, according to Bill Shea of CRAIN'S DETROIT BUSINESS. The first 10,000 fans at the game "received a District Detroit-branded Tigers cap as part of the promotion." The Tigers are owned by Mike Ilitch, whose Olympia Development of Michigan has since '14 been "building the district with the new Little Caesars Arena, a couple of blocks from Comerica Park, as the centerpiece of a sprawling plan for offices, shops, restaurants, bars, public spaces and housing over 50 blocks." Tigers VP/Marketing Ellen Zeringue said that Saturday's promotion was the "first in what's expected to be a more thorough campaign to promote the district" during the team's '17 season (CRAINSDETROIT.com, 8/29). In Detroit, Helene St. James noted the arena's suites look "incredible," as there "are two levels, starting 24 rows up, but they are arranged so that people in the upper level don’t have their sight lines impacted by the lower level." The average space "is around 600 feet," and there are "closets for coats, locked spaces for bags and a set-up conducive to mixing business with pleasure thanks to multiple TV screens adaptable for PowerPoint presentations" (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 8/28)
