Tap The Rockies: Orthopaedic Center Gets Name On Club At New Colorado State Stadium

Colorado State yesterday reached an 11-year agreement with Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies for the company's name to "be placed on the field-level club at CSU’s new on-campus stadium," according to Kelly Lyell of the Ft. Collins COLORADOAN. Financial terms "were not disclosed." The Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies Field Club will be located "on the west side of the playing field." CSU officials said that the "expanded partnership establishes OCR as the exclusive sports medicine team physicians for CSU athletics." CSU's new $220M stadium is scheduled to open for the '17 football season, and school officials are "still negotiating for naming rights to the stadium itself" (Ft. Collins COLORADOAN, 8/30).

GOOD THINGS COME IN BUNCHES: In Colorado, Mike Brohard notes CSU AD Joe Parker as early as last week "knew an announcement was in the works" regarding the OCR field club naming rights, and it "joined a long list of positive news for the athletic department in recent months." The school earlier this month inked a $4.3M deal with New Belgium Brewing for patio naming rights at the new stadium, and premium seating sales at the new venue are "ahead of projections." That followed a $20M donation that "bought the naming rights to Sonny Lubick Field." Meanwhile, the unveiling of the new football uniforms "highlighted again the agreement between the school and Under Armour, one that saves the athletic department" $1M per year "for the next five and puts its athletes in better gear." Parker: "I can't claim full responsibility for everything that's happening, but I feel good about the direction of the department" (Loveland REPORTER-HERALD, 8/30).
