Medal Stand: Appreciating The Last Glances Of Usain Bolt On The Olympic Stage

Each day during the Olympics, THE DAILY offers our take on the business performances of some of the people, sponsors, broadcasters and other entities around Rio.

GOLD: USAIN BOLT -- Soak it up these next two nights, because the greatest sprinter of all time will be running in his final Olympic races. Bolt has been a joy to watch during the last eight years, delivering on the track time after time and entertaining the fans every step of the way. Like Michael Phelps in the pool, we might never see something like this again, so enjoy it now.

SILVER: OMEGA -- Not only does Omega have a stunning hospitality house on Ipanema Beach, complete with a 9-meter waterfall inside and 1,000 of the brand’s timepieces, but the IOC TOP sponsor showcases its technology perfectly during the Games through all of the timing, scoring and amazing photo finishes.

BRONZE: USA BOXING -- Shakur Stevenson advancing to finals in the bantamweight division secures the second U.S. boxing medal in Rio. This marks the first time since Athens that USA Boxing will claim multiple medals at a single Games on the men’s side -- Nico Hernandez already grabbed a bronze in the light flyweight division. It’s a far cry from the days of Sugar Ray Leonard, George Foreman and Cassius Clay dominating the field, but it’s a nice rebound after being shut out in London.

TIN: RYAN LOCHTE -- We’re not certain how this became such a mess, or exactly what happened with Lochte and three teammates early Sunday night. But for a 32-year-old, four-time Olympian who’s been on the international scene virtually every year since becoming an adult, you should be able to make better decisions. We’re going to sound like a parent here, but use your head next time.
