Clemson's $55M Football Complex Includes Amenities Aimed At Boosting Recruiting

Clemson's new $55M "state-of-the-art football complex" is expected to help the program in "recruiting, as well as in operating day-to-day," according to Matt Connolly of the Columbia STATE. The complex is "more than 140,000 square feet and is highlighted by a players' lounge that includes a barber shop, arcade, bowling alley and laser tag." The facility will also include a "24-seat HD theater, an indoor golf simulator and an indoor replica of The Hill and Howard's Rock." Other amenities include an "outdoor village with basketball, putt putt and seating areas, as well as a training/rehab facility with five pools, a 20,000-square foot weight room, a nutrition center and a nap room." The nap room will "feature eight bunk beds, three massage chairs and bean bags." Clemson Dir of Recruiting & External Affairs Thad Turnipseed said, "The number one problem is lack of sleep ... The nap room cost very little and is a great benefit" (Columbia STATE, 8/17).
