Great Salt Lake: Utah Market On Pace To Lead Summer Olympic Ratings Again

Salt Lake City on Tuesday night topped NBC’s primetime coverage of the Rio Games for the fourth time in five nights, drawing a 30.6 local rating and putting it on pace to again be the top local market for Summer Games. The host of the '02 Games is averaging a 22.7 rating through five nights, though that is well below the 27.1 it had at the same point in '12. The only night during Rio that Salt Lake City has not led was for the Opening Ceremony last Friday, when West Palm Beach led the way. Salt Lake City ranked fifth Friday. Denver also has been performing well during primetime, finishing second on four of five nights. The market is averaging a 21.2 through five nights, down from a 25.2 four years ago. Denver also actually tied with Salt Lake City in ’08 for the 17-night lead during the Beijing Games.
